VINTAGE MAKEUP IS MAKING A COMEBACK

Trends come and go, and I should know. I have been doing makeovers for 50 years! WOW! The 60's and 70's were the decades of glamour, when some of the most iconic beauty looks were created - winged eyeliner, red lips, and false lashes.

I can't believe time flies so fast when you are having fun. We have estimated that I have done well over 10,000 makeovers and I still love helping women find that perfect look for their makeup personality.

Whether you are a Makeup Diva or a Career Minimalist or a Soccer-mom Naturalist you will find one of these trends that you will like. Maybe you just might want to try them all depending on who wakes up in the morning.

Hollywood 50's Glam-The 50's Red Lips and Old Hollywood Glam is making a comeback! This is basically a classic look which focuses on all the details. First you need a base that gives the appearance of a flawless complexion. HG Stick Foundation will give the best cover-up for age spots and imperfections.

Some of my clients use the Stick Foundation as a light base or concealer and then add the Liquid Mineral Foundation for the perfect skin. Next contour under the cheekbones with our new Contour Powder and sweep your favorite Mineral Glow Blush over apples. Define your brows with an Indelible Brow Pencil which is waterproof to last all day. Use the Indelible Eye Liner to extend the eyes outward. Get your red lips with the new Vegan Lipstick color Marashino (a cool cherry red) or Last Tango (a warm earthy red.) With a little practice, you can look like a glamorous star too!

Big and Bold 60s - How bold can you go? The 'cat eye' became even bolder by adding another black line in the crease. The new Felt Tip Liner creates the perfect 'cat eye' and if you can handle it, the line in the crease as well. The thin groomed brow became the thick and bold groomed brow. Create a thicker brow by adding Brush On Brow after defining with the Indelible Eyebrow Liner. Twiggy led the way by adding painted-on lashes under her eyes and rest is history. This look is not for the bashful, but might be fun for a girl's night out!

Soft and Sunkissed 70's- The bold liners and lumpy mascara of the last decade evolved into the California glow with soft shadows and sun-kissed neutrals on the cheeks and lips.

Start with the Luminous Foundation with its subtle glow camouflaging imperfections. Add your favorite Mineral Glow Blush across the apples.

Check out our new eye shadow kits like the Bridal Trial with its shimmer neutrals to create a naturally softer look. The new Color Stick Lips add a hint of soft color. Finishing up this sun kissed look, top off the entire face Satin Glow Baked Finishing Powder.  This is a great dewy look good for all.

Sunkissed Turns 80's Diva- Leaving the 70's the pendulum swings heavy for the Makeup Diva to colored eyeshadows, dark eyeliner, big hair, and shoulder pads. Maybe you remember the TV Series called 'Dallas!' I loved those days. Every makeup artist did. If you love the 80's diva, try the Circus or Arizona Sky Eye Pallets.

For Blush, try Coral Sun or Rose Marble, but contour first with one of our new Contour Powders! This look demands lip color and our new Vegan Lipsticks will finish your look.

Diva's To The Nude 90's- The Nudes of the nineties will always be with us, because it created a new makeup jandra!! Is it makeup or is it sunscreen or is it a moisturizer? BB Creams are great for the nude look. They are like a moisturizer, a sunscreen, and makeup all in one product. They do go on sheer and are great for summer outings like the beach for those of us who wear makeup everywhere.

But for the minimalist, this nude look is perfect. Mineral Matte Blushes go on so natural and nude-like. The matte shadows in Chocolate Bar can be used for nud-ish lid color, contour, and liner. To use as eyeliner, simply wet an eye shadow brush, dip in dark brown shadow, and paint just above the lashes.

This type of eyeliner creates a softer look for the Nudes. Finish with one of the clearish Lip Plumping Glosses and Voila! Now, you have the Nineties Nudes!

Thank goodness the Power Brow is gone, and hopefully the pink and purple ones and the brow jewelry too! Not sure how they are going to remove those tattooed on gigantic brows from this last decade, because brows are trending more natural and feminine now. Gone are the sharp angles, high arches, and elongated straight edges. Now it's back to a feathered, natural look that is not-so-perfect perfect. Finding your natural shape and tidying up is so much easier than the ultra groomed and unnatural slicked-up brow. I'm not a big fan of the pencil line brow or the bleached brow also hitting the runways, but I do like adding a little glow or glitter for that special party or prom.

I’m sure you have heard the term ‘fight or flight’ response. It’s a built-in reaction to stressful situation where your adrenals create gluco-corticoid hormones like cortisol and epinephrine (adrenalin) which equips you with emergency fuel and energy. Basically, this helps mobilize glucose into the bloodstream to fuel muscles for a boost of energy to respond to stressful situations rapidly! Is a bear chasing you, is your boss yelling at you, or are you in a car accident? Unfortunately, your body doesn’t know the difference. Continuing stressful scenarios keeps cortisol and adrenalin coursing through your veins causing a myriad of health and wellness issues. Constant stress prevents immune cells from responding to foreign invaders like virus, infections, and cancer cells. Not to mention, digestive issues like IBS, increased blood pressure, decreased brain function as in loss of memory, and insomnia induced fatigue, just to mention a few more stress-related issues.

Thalassotherapy is the use of the ocean’s beneficial elements (seawater, seaweed, sea muds, sea salts, etc.) for beautification, preventative, and curative purposes. Although ancient Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans used sea water for a variety of afflictions, France is considered the birthplace of Thalassotherapy. In 1904, French biologist, Rene’ Quinton demonstrated the existence of organic similarities between sea water and blood plasma. There are now many Thalassotherapy centers along the coast of France that offer a variety of “cures” that are often prescribed by the French medical profession.

That’s right; Old Man Winter is sucking the life out of your skin. Or should I say the moisture right out of your skin. Did you know that when Relative Humidity falls below 60% , your skin begins to lose moisture ? RH in homes and offices is around 40% and could get even lower in winter when heaters crank up. When you lose moisture, your skin’s protective barrier begins to crack, making it less able to repair itself. Larger areas of skin on the arms or legs may look like the Sahara Desert, but on the face, cracks turn into wrinkles!
